Under The Hood

The 2026 Tiguan Turbo is equipped with an enhanced version of the 2.0-liter TSI® turbocharged four-cylinder EA888 EVO5 engine found in other Tiguan models. This upgraded engine delivers 268 horsepower and produces 258 lb-ft of torque.

Several modifications contribute to the improved performance of this engine over the base engine. The larger turbocharger allows for greater boost pressure, complemented by a lower compression ratio of 10.5:1. Internally, the engine features more robust pistons and connecting rods, along with a nitrided crankshaft. Piston oil cooling and variable valve lift are also incorporated on both the intake and exhaust sides. It retains Miller-cycle technology for enhanced fuel efficiency and operates using regular gasoline.

The Tiguan Turbo's powertrain shares several enhancements with the standard engine, including increased fuel injection pressure, which takes it from 5,076 psi (350 bar) to 7,252 psi (500 bar). Additional refinements have been made to the intake, intercooler, and lubrication system, which includes a higher-displacement vane-type oil pump. Friction reduction measures include optimized chain drives for the camshafts and oil pump. 

The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission featuring steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and 4Motion® all-wheel drive comes standard on the Tiguan Turbo. The 2026 Tiguan weighs up to 170 pounds less than the previous model, which helps improve both fuel economy and acceleration. 

2025 Redesigned Interior and Exterior 

The 2025 Tiguan has been completely redesigned on the MQB EVO platform, boasting a bold and expressive new look with all-new sheet metal. It features a shorter rear overhang and a more powerful, higher nose compared to its predecessor.

Exterior Highlights:

• A distinct front lighting signature with a Tiguan Turbo-exclusive LED light bar and illuminated logo. The headlights are also slimmer and more contemporary.
• A rear LED light bar and illuminated logo mirror the front design.
• A more athletic silhouette with a curved undercut above the front fenders flowing into a strong shoulder line.
• An aerodynamic rear with a roof spoiler, side flow elements in the D-post, and air curtains in the front bumper.
• Standard black roof on Tiguan Turbo models and a striking color palette with three new options: Avocado Green Pearl, Sandstone Uni, and Monterey Blue Pearl.
• Available 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

Interior Enhancements:

• Premium materials like genuine American walnut wood décor, a wrapped and double-stitched center console, and upgraded Varenna leather seating surfaces.
• The gear shifter has been moved to the steering column, creating a larger, more convenient center console.
• The two-row model is exclusive to North America.

Technology and Convenience:

• The infotainment system features a 15-inch infotainment display on the top trim, a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro system, and a user interface with MIB4 technology.
• Driving Experience Dial in the center console for easy volume adjustment, Drive Mode Select, and the new Atmospheres feature.
• Standard wireless charging and App-Connect allow for seamless connectivity.
• 3-zone Climatronic® Touch automatic climate control.
• Standard upscale features on the top trim include a head-up display, 30-color ambient lighting, 12-speaker Harman Kardon™ sound system, power Easy/Open Close tailgate, and more.
